Dena McKenna, LCSW

Hi, I’m Dena McKenna, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through meaningful change. I work with adults and adolescents who are navigating anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, and challenges related to self-esteem, identity, and authenticity. While some clients seek support for specific diagnoses, many come simply feeling overwhelmed or stuck. My role is to help you slow down, tune in, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been buried under stress, fear, or self-doubt.

I’m a Florida native, a mom of two, and someone who believes that therapy should feel like a safe, judgment-free space where you can be fully yourself—no pressure, no pretense. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from the University of Florida and went on to complete my Master of Social Work at the University of South Florida. I began my career in hospice, where I learned the power of deep listening and human connection. For over a decade, I served as a school social worker, where I had the opportunity to create and lead a therapeutic school program for students whose mental health challenges made it difficult to attend traditional school. That program’s success led to its expansion across multiple sites, and it remains one of the most meaningful parts of my professional journey.

My therapeutic style is laid-back, open-minded, and collaborative. I meet clients where they are and work at their pace, using a blend of evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and solution-focused strategies. I also value humor, real talk, and creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen and supported. If you're ready to explore what’s getting in the way of the life you want and take practical steps toward change, I’d be honored to support you on that journey.
