Kristi Cole, LCSW
Hi, I am Kristi Cole, a licensed therapist who is passionate about helping others struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, low self-esteem, and school/work-life balance. I help people learn to identify and change negative patterns, set healthy boundaries, improve communication skills, and gain self-confidence. I have spent over 14 years working with kids, adolescents, parents/caregivers, and adults from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of treatment needs.
My specialty is connecting with and advocating for kids and families to help them manage life challenges. One of my strengths is being able to build a strong rapport, even with those who are hesitant or more guarded. Research says the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in successful therapy outcomes, so I believe that trust and relationships are key elements to our work together. I am a good fit for individuals struggling with anxiety, tough decision-making, boundaries, communication skills, or those needing a safe place to process their thoughts and feelings. I will provide empathy while helping you learn more about yourself as you strive toward your life goals.
Parents - is your child acting out or shutting down and you don’t know how to respond? Sometimes the pressure of parenting can become overwhelming and even frustrating, especially if you aren’t quite sure how to help your child. As a therapist, I believe in the saying that it often “takes a village” to help kids develop and mature into successful adults. I truly believe that my role is to develop a partnership with you and your child to help achieve peace and balance for your family.
I use a nonjudgmental approach while providing a safe place to process thoughts and emotions. I apply concepts from a variety of research-based theories, such as solutions-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or interpersonal therapy (IPT). I also like to incorporate humor and play into sessions when appropriate. Isn’t it easier to relax and open up when you are having fun?
When I am not in the office you can find me riding horses, working with my dog, spending time with my family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, or reading a book. My husband and I love spending time exploring the outdoors (especially in the mountains), spoiling our “furry four-legged kids”, and traveling when time allows. Also, during football season, I will be cheering on my Florida Gators.
